The main aim of the Institute is to identify the molecular basis of key physiological and pathological processes and mechanisms of chronic degenerative diseases with the objective to identify the molecular bases of pathologies and putative novel targets for treatment.


The Institute promotes interdisciplinary research. To this end, the IBioBA has incorporated scientists from several disciplines and with different expertise spanning from molecular modeling and chemical biophysics to molecular and cell biology and extended to animal genetics and physiology. IBioBA's interdisciplinary approach is followed also in the cooperation with other research institutions located on the "Polo Científico", the one dedicated to modeling and the one to biophysical chemistry (search for new treatments and biomedical testing).


Untill now the IBioBA has incorporated ten argentine researchers repatriated from top centers overseas.
